Panathinaikos cruised to a 3-0 victory against Aigaleo in Leoforos in a full stadium. The greens had not beaten Aigaleo this year but they did so comfortably today and stayed at the top of the standings with a 3 point advantage over Olympiakos. Olisadebe was the player of the game for yet another time, scoring twice to give his team a two goal lead and Lymberopoulos scored the third to make it the final 3-0. Kolkka was also one of the best on the pitch today. The joy of the win did not last long for Panathinaikos as they lost a key player in the 85’ in Aggelos Basinas. Everyone awaits to see the seriousness of the injury and whether he will be ready for the Porto game.
Panathinaikos came out very strong and tried to end the game early. Despite the many chances a goal never came in large part to the Aigaleo keeper, Sitibe. The greens would mostly play their game from the left side with Kolkka and that is where their first goal came from. In the 43’ came a play that looked identical to the Porto goal with Kolkka crossing to Olisadebe who scored with a clever header and made it 1-0 right before halftime.
At the start of the second half, Panathinaikos did not come out with the quick pace they had in the first half but without losing control of the game. They controlled the game and Linkar played the playmaker role and he did very well in that department. Aigaleo did not make any chances to threaten Nikopolidis. Olisadebe hit once again in the 61’ scoring his second personal goal and putting his team two goals up on Aigaleo. Panathinaikos’ dominance ended with Lymberopoulos’ header in the 74’ making it 3-0.The only bad news to come out of the game was Aggelos Basinas’ injury in the 83’. That pretty much eliminates him from the game against Porto in a few days and he will most likely miss the league game next week against Giannena. Panathinaikos: Nikopolidis, Henriksen, Seitaridis, Goumas, Fyssas, Lincar, Basinas, Kolkka (69' Konstantinidis), Karagounis (69' Gittas), Lymberopoulos (77' Warzycha), Olisadebe. March 16, 2003 |
